Background: I am from the central valley of California in a town called Dinuba. I became interested in fashion at a young age watching my Grandma Maggie and Aunt Lee sew, quilt, and crochet. My mom bought me my first sewing machine at 10 years old. I first started selling totes and purses I had made to girls at my school to help raise money for the organization Invisible Children. I became involved with the theatre group at Dinuba High School where I was given the opportunity to do costumes for shows as well as act in the plays and comedy has since become my hobby. I attended High School for 2 years and decided to do the last half on independent studies focus on the success and building of Abuel in the Golden Age. Three weeks after graduating high school I moved to LA to continue with the dream.
Education: I started attending the Fashion Institute of Design and
Merchandising Los Angeles in the summer of 2009 and have since entered my second year.I attended Dinuba High School before then
with no previous training in the art of fashion. I started Abuel in the
Golden Age at the ripe age of 14 my freshman year.
Style: Abuel in the Golden Age is a clothing line targeted for the
old souls. It has a vintage vibe with a twist of modern.
The clothing comes to life when worn and makes you feel like
you are a kid playing a role in A Midsummer's Night Dream.
It is very inspired by classic fairytales and portrays
stories with the designs.
I use everything from vintage textiles to my own color dye
to make the clothing like nothing you've seen before.
